About

You've just arrived at the online residence of wandie and reika. The two of them are NO LONGER separated (but are still inseparable) by a vast ocean and two and a half continents. They NO LONGER need to communicate by shouting really loudly and occasionally writing each other hidden messages in this blog. Feel free to poke around and post some comments.

Woo! I survived the Boxing Day shopping jam! Thronged through crowds of size unseen since Suntec on a typical weekend! But it was fun, well most of it. The Bullring as it is known is the spanking new shopping mecca for the midlands and boy did they turn up in force on Saturday. Here's a quite 20 second roundup of what's good and bad there.

The Good:
GAP - where I got a couple of tees to send home.
Zara, Oasis, Etam, Greggs - where she managed to pick up some really nice outfits and jelly donuts.
St Martins - A church really. The Bullring on the whole.

The Bad:
Debenhams - zzz..
Boots - Eh wot!? No discount for pimple cream?

And the Ugly:
Mango - I think all the brits are getting tired of MNG because all I saw in the shop and in those queues were cheena people! Plus their door was so tiny!
NEXT - Think This Fashion and add lots and lots of people.

The strange thing is, the Bullring could pass off as a typical Singapore shopping centre but it's a relative rarity here where pedestrian streets lined with individual shops still rule due to the mild climate. I say could because two things set it apart from say Suntec. One, the unfavourable ratio of food to retail outlets. Singaporeans will starve to death in the Bullring! Two, too much open space: If it were up to us, we'd pack every nook and cranny with push carts selling handphone accessories, knockoff watches and silkties. We'd also lower the ceillings and fit in two more floors of shop space (The Bullring has just 3 and a half floors). Thank goodness it wasn't up to us.

It took two Computer Science graduates (or one to be) twelve freaking hours to set up a fairly simple local area network, and another half an hour to fix a lightbulb. Bloody hell. But at least we can now do our own work in peace, and do not have to bathe and pee in total darkness.

Our exams will start in mid Jan. I have only one 6hour case study paper. I'm still wondering if I can write non-stop for three hours in the morning, and another three in the afternoon. How I wish they could let me type instead. But oh well, it will be over in a day. On the other hand, Sultan Lian is currently busy fighting a war in some Arabian country (on his computer, of course). He has been doing so since he woke up this morning. Erm, I mean afternoon. He's not doing any revision at all! Hmm, maybe somebody should let his parents know. Tsk tsk, evil me.

It's Christmas Eve. We were thinking if we should go to the cathedral in the evening. But I guess there's more interesting stuff to do, like watching TV. Oh oh, there's World Idol this Thursday. All the pop idols in the eleven countries will come together and compete for the title. I think the American idol, Kelly Clarkson, has more publicity than all the others. But I'm hoping the original pop idol, Will Young, who is representing UK will win. Three of the eleven judges had commented that he can't sing. Come on, he was awarded the Guinness Book of Hit Singles with the record for the youngest and biggest selling solo British artist. Not that I bought his album though, I did it the "alternative" way. Haha.

To all of you out there,

Have A Happy Christmas, And A Merry Merry New Year!

It's vacation month! We're heading down to the city to find a UTP crossover cable so that we can link up our PCs together (as opposed to strangling each other to death). Meanwhile on the internet, my bigfoot account was recently hijacked and a paypal scammer has focused his attention on me.

We've done it again. Who the hell comes up with these names? Tiger Airways? Biopolis? A*Star?  No wait wait, I should be asking.... who the hell approves them!?!?!
