About

You've just arrived at the online residence of wandie and reika. The two of them are NO LONGER separated (but are still inseparable) by a vast ocean and two and a half continents. They NO LONGER need to communicate by shouting really loudly and occasionally writing each other hidden messages in this blog. Feel free to poke around and post some comments.

by | § | trackbackAttention All Bukit Timah Nature Reserve Visitors!

The cycle traffic flow on the regular Bukit Timah Mountain Biking trail will be REVERSED starting this Saturday the 27th till the 4th of June. Please be careful if you're riding or hiking (which you shouldn't!) along the trail this coming week because not every trail user will be aware of the change! NParks will probably be posting a ranger around the trail entrances but please be careful!

And I'd echo a volunteer's reminder about not being a moron by stealing or turning the signs the wrong way.

by | § | trackbackBrunch Ride Time

Here's a quickie reminder that we're having our monthly brunch ride this Sunday the 21st of May. We'll be heading down from the East Coast Park down into The City. As an added bonus, Cadence Bikes will be letting us check out their 'Bike-in, Store And Go!' concept for free while we head off for a nice brunch. Sign yourself up here or just show up on the day itself!

by | § | trackbackA Setback For The SG Racing Community?

I've just received word from the Singapore Amateur Cycling Association (SACA) that the 2nd road race for the year has been cancelled. This was due to "SACA being denied the right to close the roads required for the safe conduct of the race."

SACA is reporting that a new office-in-charge for the issuing of permits has placed certain conditions which are quite impossible to adhere to when conducting a race. Can you picture a race where "
No cyclists are abreast of each other during the race" ?

The 'communique' goes on to say that SACA is 'extremely unhappy' with the outcome and the inconsistency in the issuing of conditions and permits and that they are in touch with the sports council for further advice. But as it stands right now, we'll all be sleeping in late this Sunday morning instead of racing and cheering each other on at Marina South.

by | § | trackbackHuh? Reverse LASIK?

Now how true is this?

"Due to the growing problem among their upper-class citizens, Singapore recently outlawed the use of LASIK or other eye-altering procedures to degrade one's eyesight enough to avoid compulsory military service." - gleaned from gullible.info.
